Road Ride

I have to brag a bit about my amazing husband! Last night we went on a ride together and started heading east on the Centennial Trail. We were headed into the wind and with both our legs being toast from previous workouts this was quiet difficult. At about 5 miles we decided that at the mile marker immediately after my bike computer said 10 miles, Alex would continue to ride out two more miles and I would head back. So at the mile marker when my computer read 10.5 he continued out and I started back. His goal was to catch me before home. Keep in mind this a 4 mile deficit that he will have to make up. So as I headed back going a really good pace averaging 17mph I was feeling good. Constantly looking back and rooting him on, I continued to ride steady. When I reached Minihaha on upriver drive and had a little less than a mile to go I figured he wouldn't catch me in time. I was about 20 feet from the entrance to our apartment complex when he went flying by me into the parking lot. He had made up four miles and had to have averaged well into the 20s. I couldn't believe it and was very excited for him. He never ceases to amaze me! He is the best athlete I know!!! It ended up being a very good workout for both of us and hopefully once the weather will cooperate we will be doing it again.
