HE PASSED!!!!!

Alex passed his test on Monday to receive his license. We found out at around 6:15 and man was it like Christmas morning. No more studying, no more tests and a lot more fun! Thank you everyone for your prayers! I am 100% sure they helped Alex make it through what he calls "the worst thing he has ever done"! Love you all!

His smile was bigger than that this morning!!!!

The low down

Since all of our posts are usually about Zoey I figured I would start with a little somethin, somethin about Alex and I. We both have been really busy and trying to keep in shape. We have found that running in the evenings after Zoey has gone to bed works best for now, since grandma and grandpa are there to help. We really only make it out about 3-4 times a week and since Alex hurt his back wakeboarding I am all alone and make it out even less. So therefore I am still heavier than I would like to be and Alex says he is getting fat. Maybe one day we can get back!

Alex loves his new job and the people that he works with. It was a hard choice when debating where to work but he feels that his decision was good and he is very happy. All the therapists there are members which provides for a great work environment. He loves his schedule of Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and is also very excited about actually having a good income.

As for me, I keep very busy raising the little one. My days are filled with normal house chores, running errands, and being a mom. I LOVE MY JOB!! I thought I might miss going to work just a tiny bit, but I couldn't have been more wrong. Staying home with Zoey is the best. I love spending time organizing and reorganizing her room, doing her laundry (the only laundry I enjoy doing), reading to her, playing with her and teaching her new things. My life at this point pretty much revolves around her and I am 100% ok with that!

Zoey is still progressing very rapidly. She can now roll over from back to tummy and is mimicking a lot of my facial expressions. She is doing very well at trying to sit on her own, and is crazier then ever in her bath. She is not doing so well on the eating cereal thing, though I keep trying. It might just be a bit to early still. She loves playing in her exersaucer and sitting in front of the mirror in her bumbo while I get ready for the day. She is just so much fun right now!

Her are a few recent pictures that we love!

5 FIRSTS in 1 week!!!

This last week was a big one for Zoey! She accomplished and experienced a lot of new things.

First- We started feeding her rice cereal and she loves it. The faces she makes are so cute and it makes Alex and I laugh the entire time.Second- On Friday while my best friend from high school (Megan) was over Alex found a tooth in Zoey's mouth. Yes a tooth that has already broke through at only 4 months. She is actually breaking one right next to it as well. We knew she had been drooling a lot but she has always drooled so we didn't think anything of it. She hadn't been extra fussy and so we were totally caught off guard.Third- Zoey went on her very first camping trip. On Friday after Megan left we headed out for bumping lake to camp with Justin and Jeanette. Zoey did a great job the entire time! Another mom up there kept saying "Your baby is the happiest baby I have ever seen" or "You have the best baby". She has three kids herself and one is only two months old, so of course this made me feel great. I held my head high and was very proud of her!!!Forth- She giggled/laughed for the first time while we were up camping. It was probably the cutest thing I have ever seen! So far we have gotten her to do it a few times everyday since, but we definitely have to work for it. I can't wait until she does it all the time!Fifth- She swang in the big kid swing outside. Zoey has always loved being outside and adding a swing to the equation just made it that much better. She smiled almost the whole time and enjoyed just looking around. The only negative is that we think she might be just like her mom, because she spit up all over me once we got inside. Motion sickness in a baby? Coincidence?
When she is stuck inside and wishing she wasn't we let her look out and that satisfies her.It is amazing how much they can learn and grow in just a week! It makes me sad to know that time is only going to get faster. Soon our baby will be walking and talking and want nothing to do with us anymore. I tell myself every day to enjoy it because she will not be the same tomorrow! Each new day brings something different. We went to the doctor on Monday for her 4 month check up and shots. She now weighs 13 pounds 14 ounces and is in the 27th percentile. She is 24 and a 1/2 inches long and is in the 45th percentile for height. She did a great job with her shots. She didn't cry on the first one and only cried for about 2 minutes after the second. It breaks my heart to see her that upset, but at the same time I was so proud of her.Well there is the Zoey update! She is doing great and we love her to death!

California

In celebration of Alex's graduation we decided to take a little vacation before he started work. Our bestests moved away just over a year ago and we never get to see them and that is why we chose California as our destination. We drove over to Seattle on Monday afternoon and stayed with Lyndsey and Dan Cooper (EWU Track Friends) for the night. We had a great time catching up and rock climbing before flying out Tuesday morning. Getting through an airport with a baby is quite the task, but Zoey was a champ and did an amazing job on both flights down. We arrived in Burbank that afternoon were Sommer picked us up. We drove another two hours to their house, were we would stay until Saturday afternoon.
This trip was the first time that Lindsay, Sommer & Eric got to meet Zoey. Right away the two babies started checking each other out. We laid them on the bed together and Eric tried holding her hand and touching her face. It was the cutest thing ever!!!
For the most part we spent the week doing what we used to when we all lived in Spokane. Our time was filled with A few games of settlers, movies, shopping, eating, and just hanging out with our kids. It was so much fun to just sit around and talk and listen to our husbands laugh together just like the good old days!!! I really enjoyed talking with Sommer about all the new things we are experiencing being moms. I REALLY MISS HANGING OUT WITH HER ALL THE TIME!!!! It is so hard having our best friends so far away.
A few other fun things from our trip included bathing Eric and Zoey together, going to the base and swimming, going on a run with Lindsay, and enjoying the farmers market and chili cook off in down town. All in all the week was GREAT! We just wish they were closer.Zoey's first time swimming went well. At first the water shocked her but then she started to like it. She got to where Alex was able to drag her through the water and get her smile. This girl just loves to be outside and looking around. The water really fascinated her and she would just stare at it.
Zoey was a bit fussy due to all the traveling and messing up of her schedule that happened within the two weeks. She screamed every time we put her in the car to go somewhere, which then would turn into a yelling match between her and Eric. They would take turns crying or fussing and had Sommer and I laughing so hard! On the trip home we drove the two hours back to Burbank and then caught our first flight, which was delayed. Our second flight had to wait for us and then we finally arrived in Seattle, where we were picked up by Alex's sister and dropped off at our car. We then made the two and a half hour drive home. From start to finish that day we traveled for 12 hours and again through the whole thing Zoey was a champ and didn't cry once!
The trip was great and we can't wait until we can do it again or they can make a trip up here!

GRADUATION!!!

Alex has done it! It is all over! On June 13th Alex received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy and no longer has to go to school. YAY!!!! We are all so proud of him. Here are a few pictures from that special day.

Keep up, not catch up!

That is what my mom has told me through out my life, but for some reason with blogging I just can't do it. It has been almost two months since I have posted anything and you can definitely tell by the amount Zoey has grown.

Zoey is getting so big and is learning so much. She has gotten very good at holding things and putting them in her mouth. Her babbling is now twice as much as it used to be and she is starting to mimic us. She now takes a bath in the real bath tub and normally enjoys it a lot. We know she has gotten a lot bigger due to the fact that she is now in size 3 diapers, but we wont know here actual height and weight until her next appointment which should be next week sometime. We are truly loving this stage of her life. She is so much fun and is so loving we don't want her to grow up!

A very special day!

Zoey Jo was given the most amazing baby's blessing on Sunday May 3rd by her father. Both of her grandpas were able to stand in, along with many other good family friends. It was amazing to have all of my siblings and their families there to witness this event. After the blessing there were many great testimonies shared by the family. I bet you could have guessed this but I was an emotional wreck the entire meeting. After the meeting we had a very nice lunch with friends and family and just enjoyed being together. I am so grateful to have such a sweet spirit join our family and know that if I do my part she will be with us for all eternity.

Bumbo Big Girl!

We decided to try putting Zoey in her Bumbo the other day, but assumed it wouldn't work. To our surprise she did great. She was a little nervous to move her head so she just looked around with her eyes. It was one of the cutest things ever and I was so proud of her. Alex thought it would be fun to take her out and put her on the trampoline sitting in it, but she didn't enjoy that as much. She is becoming such a big girl in her big girl chair!

Easter

Other than Zoey being extremely sick with a bad cold and swollen, red, puffy eyes Easter Sunday was a great day! It was Zoey's first full Sunday at church and she slept to whole time. We dressed her in the cutest little dress that grandma Heater bought for her and she looked just like a tulip! My mom made an awesome meal that I ate way to much of, but of course still had room for dessert. After diner we had an adult Easter egg hunt that my parents set up for us. There were 86 eggs filled with a total of 100 dollars and candy. 6 Adults participated and man was it wild. Alex and I ended up with 40 dollars total and thought that was a great deal for 10 minutes of egg hunting. Everyone had a great time including my parents as they watched us run around like crazy people. That night we all hung out and watched a movie together as a family. There is no better way to spend a Sunday evening in my opinion. Easter is a great holiday and I am so thankful for it. I know that my savior died for me and was resurrected so that I could live with him again.

Catching up with ZOEY!!!

I know this is a little late but here is an update on the things happening in Zoey's 1st month of life. She is getting so big! Let me tell you the girl knows how to eat, but what else would you expect out a Heater/Moon baby? She eats every three hours on the dot, even throughout the night. Therefore we are up twice a night to feed, change her pants and rock back to sleep. The early morning hours spent just the two of us staring at each other, has really grown on me and is actually my favorite time. Zoey is gaining a lot of strength in her neck and is also learning to push of things pretty hard with her legs.
I swear she poops every 30 minutes (ok maybe not that often, but so so much) and passes gas so loud she always has her dad and I cracking up. We especially enjoy the machine gun farts and squeakers.
During the last month she came down with a very, very nasty adult cold, that had us at the doctors office several days in a row. She was absolutely miserable during this time which caused her to be fussy. It killed Alex and I to see her like this. During the night she would wake up coughing, choking or because she couldn't breath, which in turn meant no sleep for me. Her fever caused a bad rash all over her body that is just starting to go away. I am very glad to have our happy little girl back! The last big step for Zoey is that she will now take a pacifier. Thanks to Sharron Robinson we can now sooth her without letting her latch onto me every time. I will be forever in debt to her for keeping me from being a pacifier for forever.
so there you go.... Zoey's big achievements and news in her 1st month.

WE LOVE HER SO MUCH!!!!

OUT OF SHAPE!

They say having a baby is the hardest thing on your body, but I am going to have to disagree! Getting back into shape after having a baby is the hardest thing on your body!!! I have been running for just over a week and man does my body hurt. The doctor said to take six weeks off after having Zoey, but I couldn't wait any longer. My runs last 30 minutes and let me tell you it is the longest, hardest thirty minutes ever. I remember not to long ago when 30 minutes was a warm up. Now when I am done every part of me is sore and tired. For that last month of pregnancy all I wanted was my own body back. Now that I am not sharing, it is nice, but I am still wanting my old body back. I miss the days of feeling unstoppable!!! I guess all I can do is continue to work at it. Time will only tell if I can return to the physical shape I was in before. Everyone keeps telling me it will never go back, but I am bound and determined to prove them wrong. I will try my hardest thirty minutes at a time!

Being a mom......

is the best thing in the whole world! I can't believe that it has been over two weeks since Zoey came into our lives. I really understand what people mean when they say, "enjoy every minute because time passes so fast". Zoey has made a lot of changes just in the last two weeks. Her little cheeks are starting to fill out as well as the rest of her body, her belly button fell off and is looking very nice, she still sleeps a lot but is starting to figure out her days and nights, and she is now enjoying her baths. I know none of these are huge mile stones but I am so amazed at how quickly they learn, grow and change.

Alex started his internship on Monday and that left nights completely up to me and days became just Zoey and I. I have been more tired so far this week than last, but I am also very much enjoying my days spent just holding and starring at her.I never knew one could feel a bigger love than the one I feel for Alex, but having a child I have experienced a whole new depth of love. Which in turn makes me love Alex even more (which again I didn't think was possible) for giving me her. I don't know if that makes any since but for those of you with children understand what I am trying to say.

ZOEY JO IS HERE!!!

Let me begin where I left off. My last post was the day we were to go to the hospital, just over a week ago. Friday the 13th was my last day at work, which ended at noon. Once I said my goodbyes it was off to lunch with Alex at his going away party for his internship. This was the last time I was allowed to eat before we were supposed to show up at Deaconess Hospital at 7:30. When lunch was over it was off to take a nap and continue packing the apartment. Just before we were to leave, around 7:00 we got a phone call from the hospital telling us there was no room for us and to call back at 9:00. So frustrated and starving I anxiously waited. 9:00 came and we crossed our fingers.

Red rover, red rover, send the Moons on over, were the exact words we heard. When we got there we found that the wait was totally worth the huge room we were put in for labor and delivery. This room was at least twice the size of all the others and was very comfortable. After getting settled in they got me all wired up and checked my bodies progress. I was having minor contractions (which I could not feel), but was only dilated to a one. They decided to give me some extra liquids through an IV to see if I was contracting due to dehydration. This was the case and therefore determined that Cervidil was the next step. The Cervidil was placed inside me and left to sit throughout the night. They then gave me an Ambien to help me sleep, which ended up making me very delusional and completely out of it. Alex said I was acting very weird and was not making much since, but soon enough the Z’s came and I was out.

Around 4:00 in the morning I woke up to some mild contractions that progressively got stronger until 9:30am when my doctor got there. She checked my progress again and found I had only progressed to a 1.5 and decided to break my water (which was the most painful thing ever). At this point they started me on Pitocin and monitored my contractions from the inside. The contractions became very strong and extremely close together and kept me in a good amount of pain until they checked me again at noon. Unfortunately my body was fighting it and had only progressed to a 2. Not much longer after that I was given my epidural before the anesthetist was unavailable due to a c-section down the hall. From that point on I could not feel anything. I was able to take a nap and enjoy the company there to support me.

Around 3:00 I had made it to a 4 and at 5:30 I was up to 7. I sat at a 7 for about two and a half hours and at 8:00 I lost my cookies. I instantly went from a 7 to a 10 and it was time to get ready. Just before 8:30 they called my doctor and I started pushing. While waiting for my doctor to arrive I pushed every other contraction and at 8:55 our angel was born.

The entire time my husband was by my side being the best support I could ask for. Getting to hold our daughter for the first time was the most amazing experience and feeling in the world. Tears filled out eyes as we looked into hers. No words can describe the moment.

Zoey Jo Moon was 6.14 oz and 19 inches long. Though she looked like a frog when she was born, she was very healthy. The swelling subsided several hours later and she then looked like a little glowworm. Below are some pictures from the first few hours of her life.

We were released from the hospital at 6:00 Sunday and that is when the stress really set in. We had to get home and finish packing and cleaning the apartment so we could be checked out by 3:00 Monday. With the help of family and one very generous guy from my dads work we were able to get the truck loaded and off to Yakima. We finished cleaning at 2:40 and just made the deadline for vacating that day. Before leaving town we stopped by the school so Alex could turn in his final assignment and then we were on the road. Our little family of three was now on our way to our new home.

The next few days were spent getting settled in and just enjoying our new addition. So far she has been an excellent little girl. She is always so content, she eats and sleeps like a champ and Alex and I couldn't’t feel luckier. We love her so much and still can’t believe she is ours!!!! The following pictures are from the first week of her life and her first Sunday dress. I hope you enjoy and stay tuned for more Zoey updates.

Today is the day!

Alex and I are to show up at Deaconess Hospital at 7:30 tonight. Depending on how far my body has progressed, determines one of two paths we take. If I am dilated to a 2 then we will be induced tonight(path 1) and if not path two must be taken. Path two consists of a 12 hour process of softening my cervix and then being induced tomorrow morning. Either path, we are excited to meet little Zoey sometime within the next 48 hours.

Alex and I with the help of his great parents have been attempting to get our apartment packed and cleaned before the big move on Monday. We originally thought we were going to be moving the Thursday after she was born but again things changed and we only have until Monday. Yes we are going to have a child and move all within three days.

I can't really describe the roller coaster of emotions I am feeling and have felt over the last week or so. All I can say is that I am sooooo thankful for great family, the best husband and my Heavenly Father. I know all of them are going to continue to help me through this crazy time.

Coming soon........ PICTURES OF ZOEY!!!!

LEt tHe MAdNesS bEgIN

Sorry it has been so long since I have updated everyone! I really have no excuse. A lot has gone on since the beginning of the year and all of it has been pretty great. So in the last two months the following has taken place:

Alex and I gained a nephew (He is so cute!)
We got to spend time with our bestests (Not enough time!)
We have acquired almost everything we need for Zoey
I was replaced at work
Alex finished his case project for his internship
and the snow is finally melting

In the last week, the fact that we have some really big changes coming up has really sunk in. We thought we had at least one more Sunday in our ward and come to find out last Sunday was our last. We will be in Yakima this coming weekend and the weekend after we will be in the hospital and then we move. Yes in the hospital. Our doctor has decided to have us come in on FRIDAY THE 13th to start the inducing process and hopefully Zoey will be with us on the 14th sometime.

That leaves us with just over a week to get packed and ready to move before she comes. Alex and I both only have 5 full days left at our current places of employment (I am happy and Alex is sad)! Our time line has been shortened and the stress has started to set in. The combination of nerves and excitement has completely taken us over. My body is exhausted and ready to have her out. All in all things are crazy!!!!!

Please keep Alex, Zoey and I in your prayers! We will need all the help we can get. Until I get the chance to post again....Take care everyone!

So we all know how silly Alex can be and we all love him for it. This is proof that this kid will never grow up and he will always be the one to make everyone in the room laugh.

Christmas / New Years

Christmas at the Heater house was celebrated on the 27th and no one was disappointed. Santa was good to all of us and the family gifts were above and beyond. We had a great Christmas dinner and then a very relaxing evening after opening gifts. For new years we had a party at my parents house with just fam. My parents put together a ton of snacks and goodies that were all so scrumptious I swear I gained 5 pounds that night alone! Cory (my brother) had a great idea to have a Wii bowling tournament, which everyone was required to participate in. He set up the bracket and the fun began. I didn't do so hot and I think Alex got 5th over all. I guess we need to practice our bowling skills! All in all it was a very enjoyable holidays. There is nothing better than spending time with family. We had a great time with our nieces and nephew and are looking forward to spending more time with them and everyone else in the near future.

Splish, Splash

On the Monday before New Years the entire Heater family went to Wolf Lodge Indoor Water Park and spent two days. The trip was great and the whole family had a blast. Here is a slide show just to give you an idea of what the two days entailed...

If you ever get a chance to go with your family it is worth the trip and money!
