In celebration of Alex's graduation we decided to take a little vacation before he started work. Our bestests moved away just over a year ago and we never get to see them and that is why we chose California as our destination. We drove over to Seattle on Monday afternoon and stayed with Lyndsey and Dan Cooper (EWU Track Friends) for the night. We had a great time catching up and rock climbing before flying out Tuesday morning. Getting through an airport with a baby is quite the task, but Zoey was a champ and did an amazing job on both flights down. We arrived in Burbank that afternoon were Sommer picked us up. We drove another two hours to their house, were we would stay until Saturday afternoon.
This trip was the first time that Lindsay, Sommer & Eric got to meet Zoey. Right away the two babies started checking each other out. We laid them on the bed together and Eric tried holding her hand and touching her face. It was the cutest thing ever!!!
For the most part we spent the week doing what we used to when we all lived in Spokane. Our time was filled with A few games of settlers, movies, shopping, eating, and just hanging out with our kids. It was so much fun to just sit around and talk and listen to our husbands laugh together just like the good old days!!! I really enjoyed talking with Sommer about all the new things we are experiencing being moms. I REALLY MISS HANGING OUT WITH HER ALL THE TIME!!!! It is so hard having our best friends so far away.
A few other fun things from our trip included bathing Eric and Zoey together, going to the base and swimming, going on a run with Lindsay, and enjoying the farmers market and chili cook off in down town. All in all the week was GREAT! We just wish they were closer.Zoey's first time swimming went well. At first the water shocked her but then she started to like it. She got to where Alex was able to drag her through the water and get her smile. This girl just loves to be outside and looking around. The water really fascinated her and she would just stare at it.
Zoey was a bit fussy due to all the traveling and messing up of her schedule that happened within the two weeks. She screamed every time we put her in the car to go somewhere, which then would turn into a yelling match between her and Eric. They would take turns crying or fussing and had Sommer and I laughing so hard! On the trip home we drove the two hours back to Burbank and then caught our first flight, which was delayed. Our second flight had to wait for us and then we finally arrived in Seattle, where we were picked up by Alex's sister and dropped off at our car. We then made the two and a half hour drive home. From start to finish that day we traveled for 12 hours and again through the whole thing Zoey was a champ and didn't cry once!
The trip was great and we can't wait until we can do it again or they can make a trip up here!
Happy New Year!!
